In a bid to achieve his dream height of six-foot four inches, 23-year-old Leon has undergone a painful leg-lengthening cosmetic procedure, a process that has gained popularity in recent years. Starting at five-foot six inches, Leon has already successfully increased his height to approximately six feet (184 cm) using the LON method with an external fixator, with his goal being to reach between 192 to 195 cm.
The procedure involves breaking the thigh bones and inserting metal pins and braces with screws that the patient adjusts daily to stretch the legs as the bones heal, similar to tightening braces on teeth. This lengthy and grueling process requires extensive physical therapy to aid recovery and help the patient adapt to their new height.
Leon shared his challenging journey on TikTok, documenting his progress and the difficulties of learning to walk with his newly extended legs. In discussions with a “height surgeon,” it was noted that while the devices used can extend the femur by up to 12.3 cm and the tibia by 10 cm, caution is advised to avoid over-extension which can affect biomechanics and aesthetics. Patients are encouraged to monitor their appearance in the mirror and adjust the extension rate based on their comfort with their new height and proportions. Leon’s journey highlights both the possibilities and the pains of extreme body modification through cosmetic surgery.
